Acer Z520 body, contours and design is created sleekly to match modernity and functionality which is just great for an average Juan who would love to have a bit of an edge but is hoping for a budget-friendly gadgets. With its dimensions of 154 x 86 x 6.4 mm (6.06 x 3.39 x 0.25 inc) gives a right grip plus the added rough strip on the side makes it more manageable to handle and to avoid slip. Its weight of 118 g (4.16 oz) is good enough to notice that you still have a phone on your hand or pocket.

The Acer Z520’s screen display is quite larger from the usual screen as it displays 5 inches of images with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The screen is a capacitive touchscreen that allows multitouch. The 5 inches screen display lets you enjoy you more entertainment, watch your favorite movies or even play more of Clash of Clans.

With the use of a Mediatek MT6582M Chipset that runs on a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 with an Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat) makes this simple gadget at par with the others. Will sure get you entertained with the movies that you can watch and games that you can play.

Acer Z520 is built with 8GB of internal storage to slot in a great number of photos, music and videos. It also comes with a microSD slot that can be expanded up to 32GB. But I suggest not extend up to 32 GB because its 1GB RAM will not take much of the process that will eventually lead to slow function or system hang ups. .

If you’re more of a photo person who loves to catch every detailed moments, the Acer Z520 is equipped with 8 MP rear camera with autofocus function and a front camera of 2 MP for selfie. We get into our ways with its camera and made some photo testing which gives a nice picture using the rear camera but its autofocus function makes it hard to grab a clear shot. A little move within the frame leads to blurry output. The front camera isn't the best for your selfie but will do with some proper lighting  and good angle shot. Camera features are geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama.

Other specs are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and hotspot; Bluetooth v4.0, A2DP; with A-GPS; comes with FM radio; and a microUSB v2.0.

There are features to like with the Liquid Z520, it comes with a touch-less selfie experience. It is operated with a voice command that lets you change settings like from normal to panorama or HDR and capture the moment by simply uttering “Cheese” or “Capture”. Though the voice command isn't as perfect as it is because noise at the background disrupt the recognition system causing to follow command with the same sound. But of course this will definitely make selfie and groupie pics a lot of ease.

For people who love music very much, it got DTS Studio Sound that delivers an astonishing stereo sound with bigger sound field, higher vocal clarity and more natural details. This sound feature is great and the quality of sound is ideal for listener but when it comes to its volume, its capacity, it fall a little bit short. We were able to make a test of the devices available and the Acer Z520 needs improvement with its volume.

Acer’s Quick Mode is also a look at as it is build with 3 distinct profiles for different user and age groups:

• Basic Mode is for youngsters with fixed call and text functions. 
• Easy Mode is for silver surfers with access to quick messages, radio 
• Standard Mode is for advance smartphone user familiar with the Android interface. 

But if you’re okay with the regular set up of the phone just stick with it to avoid complicated matters.

All in all the Acer Liquid Z520 is a smartphone that comes in handy with some of its features. With a price of around Php5,000, Acer Z520 is a very affordable smartphone that flaunts good value. It is sure recommended for students and for the not so very techie gadget savvy individuals.
