Predator Gaming kicks off the Asia Pacific Predator League 2019 and reveals Alodia Gosiengfiao as the newest Predator Gaming Ambassador

One of the newest but powerful gaming brand, Predator Gaming, has geared up for Asia Pacific Predator League 2019, the region’s biggest world-class gaming tournament, as it officially launched last October at One Esplanade in Pasay City. This milestone event coincides with the reveal of celebrity gamer-slash-cosplay sensation Alodia Gosiengfiao as the newest Predator Gaming Ambassador.

Now on its second year, the Asia Pacific Predator League is the most anticipated eSports competition. Since its inception and maiden run in 2018, the Gaming Tournament has since expanded to include participants from a total of 16 countries: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam – more than double that of last year’s total participants.

This year, Asia Pacific Predator League draws battle lines for two of the biggest and hottest gaming titles: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and DOTA 2. Vying for a total prize pool of up to USD 400,000.00 for the whole tournament, competitions and local eliminations will be held to determine champions and representatives for each country, before culminating in Bangkok, Thailand early next year.

“Predator Gaming is extremely proud of the Philippine gaming talent, and we surely shared this talent with the world when Quid Pro Quo bagged 3rd place in the grand finals last year,” shares Mr. Manuel Wong, General Manager of Acer Philippines. “But, at the end of the day, what makes us even prouder is seeing so much growth and potential in the Philippines eSports scene – that’s what the Asia Pacific Predator League is all about.”

To set the tone for the upcoming months of intense gaming and competition, Predator Gaming kicked off the PUBG and DOTA 2 fever in style. Creating a PUBG, DOTA 2, and cosplayer’s paradise in one jampacked event, the immersive affair drew crowds with the DOTA 2 Green Screen GIF Station, where guests were given the chance to pose with their favorite DOTA 2 characters; and the DOTA 2 and PUBG game stations, where brave souls may step into the games’ universe and take a gander at defeating enemies.

Completing the thrilling event and serving as the highlight of the night was the announcement of the Philippines’ biggest cosplay star, Alodia Gosiengfiao, as the Predator Gaming Ambassador. Making a show-stopping entrance as Alodia gushed about her excitement for the Asia Pacific Predator League competition.

“I’m so happy to be joining the Predator Gaming family in time for the Competition,” enthuses Alodia. “What got me into gaming was the incredible camaraderie and the intense passion gaming enthusiasts had, and these are characteristics that are so uniquely innate in the community. I’m so excited to witness these as the tournament unfolds.”

In the Philippines, the tournaments begin with 4 regional qualifiers each for both PUBG and DOTA 2. Powered by TNC Cyber Cafe , the qualifiers will begin this October for PUBG; and in November for DOTA 2.

For PUBG, PHP 15,000.00 and PHP 5,000.00, plus Predator merchandise await the champions and 2nd placers or the regional qualifiers, respectively. The top 3 from each qualifier will move on to the national finals, where the teams will go head-to-head against each other in a two-day match with 10 rounds, for a chance to win PHP 120,000.00, PHP 40,000.00, and PHP 20,000.00 for the champion, 2nd placer, and 3rd placer, respectively.

Meanwhile, for DOTA 2, the winners for each of the regional qualifiers will complete the 4 teams who will be competing, in double elimination format, for PHP 120,000.00, PHP 40,000.00, and PHP 20,000.00, for the champions, 2nd placers, and 3rd placers, respectively. The champions will also get chance to battle it out with the TNC Predator, the Philippine DotA pride.

The PUBG national champion and the TNC Predator will be flying to Bangkok, Thailand early next year to vie for the coveted grand prize.

ASUS Launches Intel Z390 Series Motherboards

The skeletal system of every computer, the motherboard. The area where every thing is placed and given life afterwards. Anyway we are not here to discuss about the meaning of motherboard but to share what's new with Asus parts, take note powerful parts.

It was almost exactly one year after introducing six-core Coffee Lake processors alongside Z370 motherboards, Intel® is back with more cores, higher clocks and the new Z390 chipset. The new 9th Generation Intel Core™ processor family offers up to eight cores and 16 threads of parallel processing horsepower that’s perfect for content creation, heavy multitasking, and other demanding workloads. With clock speeds as high as 5GHz on the flagship Core i9-9900K, these new processors also raise the bar for gaming performance, especially if you’re streaming, recording, and chatting simultaneously.

ASUS is excited to support this new generation of Intel processors with a wide variety of new motherboards based on the Intel Z390 chipset. The collection is led by a diverse cast from the Republic of Gamers that elevates gaming and overclocking to new heights. ROG Strix offers more streamlined alternatives that include a mighty Mini-ITX model, while TUF Gaming focuses on the essentials to hit more affordable price points.

This is really a good arsenal when it comes to gaming.

There’s an ROG or ASUS Z390 motherboard for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned veteran who tunes to perfection, a hardcore gamer obsessed with performance, or a first-time builder seeking a seamless PC experience. For further details about our ROG lineup please visit ASUS ROG. Our buying guide with complete specifications and images for the entire lineup of Z390 motherboards is located at Edge Up ASUS.

ROG raises the bar for Z390 motherboards

Since its inception way back in 2006, the Republic of Gamers has set the standard for gaming and enthusiast motherboards. We created the category, and with each new generation our designers and engineers refine the formula in pursuit of faster performance, more customization, and a better overall gaming experience.

For Z390, the Maximus XI series embraces the dark side with blacked-out boards in multiple sizes and variations. It leads with the unparalleled Maximus XI Extreme for dream builds, which is followed by armour-clad Maximus XI Formula. The Maximus XI Gene rethinks our approach to microATX, and the Maximus XI Hero strikes the right balance in three different flavors.

Democratizing the republic with ROG Strix

ROG Strix fills the space below the Maximus series with more affordable options that retain the look and feel people have come to expect from the Republic of Gamers. These models keep must-have features for gaming and overclocking but are not as extreme as their ROG siblings. In the Z390 series, the Mini-ITX Strix Z390-I Gaming is joined by three full-sized ATX boards: the Strix Z390-E, Z390-F, and Z390-H Gaming.

Build a true battlestation with TUF Gaming

TUF offers a new direction for gaming hardware that combines builder-friendly features with battlestation-ready themes. Its unique aesthetic and focus on reliability and gaming essentials are shared by a growing collection of additional hardware we developed in-house, plus contributions from a broader TUF Gaming Alliance made up of industry titans that produce compatible parts. You can already buy matching memory, coolers, and power supplies along with a TUF Gaming case, and additional hardware is on the way.

The TUF Gaming Z390 series will be represented by the TUF Z390-Plus Gaming (Wi-Fi).

Decode is Trend Micro's Way of Calling Filipino IT Professionals to Embark on Collaborative Cyber Threat Defense

It has been a while since we talked about cyber security on this blog and honestly with all the advancement in technology nowadays we truly need to have or much better to say to learn more about new threats in the world wide web.

Just recently I was able to be invited to one of the leading companies when it comes to cybersecurity solutions, Trend Micro. According to the recently released Midyear Security Roundup of 2018, Trend Micro, noted that cyber criminals are moving away from attention-grabbing ransomware attacks to more covert methods intended to steal money and valuable computing resources. These methods include cryptocurrency mining malware, as well as fileless, macro, and small file malware, just to name a few.

“Cybercriminals will constantly shift their tools, tactics and procedures (TTPs) to improve their infection rates,” said Alma Alvarez, Director for Training and Cyber Threat Hunting of Trend Micro. “The spray and pray ransomware attacks we’ve seen in the previous years had become the norm, so attackers changed their tactics to be more covert, using entry vectors not previously seen or used extensively.

“That said, tried and tested tactics still prove effective, as seen in the threats affecting the country and region. IT professionals must evaluate not just their organization’s defenses, but also their own cybersecurity skills and knowledge to ensure sufficient protection is in place to stop these threats.

“In addition, it’s more important than ever to have a complete, multilayered defense strategy that protects against these attack vectors. The latest attack types require sophisticated detection capabilities, but traditional protections are also required to stop often-overlooked methods of entry that may not be thought of as a risk”, she added.

Cybercrime and updates in the threat landscape are among the topics discussed in the recently held DECODE security conference hosted by Trend Micro last October 11 at the Makati Shangri-La hotel. Now on its second year, DECODE continues to let Filipino IT professionals in on the most-up-to-date technologies, tools available, and skills that they can use to better secure their organization’s digital infrastructure.

This year’s theme was “Connected Threat Intelligence” and it featured talks and track sessions, given by industry experts and Trend Micro’s own researchers, on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) security, reverse engineering, and forensics. With the ever-increasing interconnectivity between devices and organizations in and around the world, the risk of hacking and other security threats likewise become a major concern.
Yet all is not lost as participants of DECODE collaborated on how to combat these very threats. And while we cannot get all these threats all in one go, DECODE is a good start and shows everyone that there is something that can be done to help keep our interconnected world safe from whatever threat is out there.

Aside from the information about threats and malwares, media present during the conference were given a glimpse of how hackers do their fileless attacks. A really covert way of getting information without injecting codes to harvest data and information.

When two genre of in life mixed together it brings a wonderful project to look at or listen as well. One of the trusted brands in the tech and computing industry, most particularly laptops and desktops, Acer Philippines made a round off of their successful Acer Day run as it partners with Wish FM 107.5 for its Acer Day Digital Concert. Remaining faithful to this year’s Acer Day theme “Play Music Together”, the leading tech and innovations company partnered with Wish FM 107.5 to reunite Moira dela Torre and IV of Spades, who had previously led the launch event of Acer Day last July. After delivering much-awaited encore performances, the two music icons took the crowd by surprise as they boarded the Wish Bus to sing, for the first time in public, “Huli Na Ba Ang Lahat?”, a piece they collaborated on specifically for Acer Day.
